S. Portico Bowman’s Would You Give Up Arms For Wings? A story inspired by the visionary life & writings of Paulus Berensohn was a finalist for the AWP (Association of Writers & Writing Programs) Sue William Silverman Prize for Creative Nonfiction. The manuscript creation received generous support and two grants from the Canada Council for the Arts. The work will be published as a handmade coptic stitch limited edition of 125 books.
Bowman has written over forty essays in national and international publications such as Studio Potter, Sculpture Magazine, Art Papers, and Ceramics: Art & Perception about artists such as Shinichi Kotsuji, Jun Kaneko, Colby Parsons, and Cary Esser. She currently devotes her writing practice toward the vision of the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity & Craftsmanship as a regular contributor to the Homo Faber Guide.
